A Quick Post

Today is Z’s second birthday.  Happy birthday little Z!!

I lost a 1/2 pound this week (189 lbs).  If I was on a diet I would have been so bummed.  But since I’m doing my best to eat intuitively, I was quite pleased to see any sort of loss (and no gain).  So yippee skippee.  🙂

And So It Goes

I weighed in at 189.5 pounds this morning. At 5′ 3 1/2″, that is not a healthy number to see.

Moving on…

So far so good with the goals I set out for myself the other day. And I just ordered a used version of Eat Fresh, Stay Healthy from Amazon. I got the link from a comment over at Pasta Queen‘s blog. I am so not a cook. I recently quit my day job and have been a SAHM (Stay At Home Mother) to my almost 2 year old, minus a Saturday group of clients. So I have been dabbling in cooking more than my usual – but nothing impressive.

I’d like to get more impressive. And I’d like to try more veggies and fruits. We eat stuff like spinach, mushrooms, apples, strawberries, cherries, grapes, and the like. But there are plenty of fruits and veggies that I am clueless about. This book, from what I’ve read, gives a run down on several – how to tell they are ripe, their nutritional stats, how to prepare…

I would also like to figure out how to up my fruits and veggies without killing my wallet. It’s been said that the more you cook from scratch, the less you spend on food. I just find the cooking from scratch thing a bit overwhelming – at least when I think about doing it on a daily basis.

I probably would have not been the best frontier woman.
